One thing that I've noticed is that very few of us 'BLOG' on the weekend. If everyone is as busy as we are on the weekend, it is no wonder. It is just the two of us and we don't seem to have enough time (and Don is not working). I don't know how we managed when we had kids at home. We have a cleaning lady, eat out several times a week and Don does the laundry. So...where does the weekend go? We don't even sleep in, either.
If we are at home for the weekend we do spend alot of time with our friends that we have made. We go out to eat OFTEN. With 40 of our nearest and dearest friends! Saturday morning we all met at the local diner for breakfast. Two hours later.....Last weekend we were picking crabs with a smaller group (8). Tonight I have 'Birthday Club' (we have a club for everything and anything) so that's dinner at 6:30. Tomorrow we are celebrating Cinco de Mayo five days early) by going out for Mexican with the 40 nearest and dearest. Wednesday is Book Club and Thursday I will be packing for the cruise we are leaving for on Saturday (with 50 of our nearest and dearest- we let a few extras come.) Friday night we will gather for a bon voyage party at the clubhouse. With all this eating I should LOSE weight on the cruise. What is keeping everyone elso so busy? By the way...passing on info...David and Cathy do close on their house on Friday and David said he is so busy this week he will probably not be blogging.
We'll give him a family pass this time and assume we will get a great post with pictures soon. It has been quiet on the Wilbur front (GKKJ&K) because they were in Jamaica last week. So tell us...did you make Chex when you got home or are you waiting until this week?

Good God, I am exhausted just reading your plans and I have two kids under three. Good for you guys, I hope you have a great time on your cruise with 50! of your friends. I don't think I can come up with four friends that I would want to vacation with, let alone fifty. But, hey, whatever floats your boat. Have fun.
P
Deb, you have more plans with friends than I have had in a year. We've been in our house for two years now and have never had any one come over except workers and family. Can you believe that? We are total hermits.
It takes up all of our spare time just taking care of the kids and the house. I only have one week of school left so I'll have to be looking for a job shortly. Sigh.
I already told Heather and Pete, but Michael got a new job as a counselor (mentor/teacher) at a boys' ( ages 17-24) ranch academy in San Cristobal.( www.sancristobalranchacademy.org , if you want to check it out) The young men are there for drug and alcohol rehabilitation in addition to other problems. His first day was yesterday and he said they are all testing him, but that he thinks he's going to enjoy it. The place is an actual working ranch (horses, goats, chickens etc.) up in the mountains at about 9,000 ft. It's about 20 minutes from here.
I'll have to watch Idol alone, tonight, but Michael is still boycotting! That's OK--I'll eat my Chex and be with you all. :)
I'm really psyched for Dave and Cath. They sure are taking a big bite of the pie, and having a blast doing it.
Deb and Don, hope you have a fun and safe cruise. Remember, don't eat the brown acid...I mean shrimp cocktail!

I don't even know what day it is! I'll have to wait for Chex.

Deb,you do have alot of friends and that is great. But don't you ever get tired of smiling all the time. 'course it is better than the alternative.
Peg, hope you get your times right for "Idol" as we must have our synchronized munching. Tomorrow nite @9 PM EDT. Does "Idol" come on @ 7PM your time?
Glad to hear about Michael's new job.
Also ,I thought you both liked being alone and were tired of people from being in a people industry.
Love you all,
M
Peg,
P.S.
When do you finish school? Is there any kind of graduation or do they just say, "You are finished. Good Bye."
L,
M
I'm munching and watching Jersey Night on Idol. Just saw Lakisha and I think she was great. I've liked her from the beginning. Too bad for Jordin--not her best look, either.
Oh, Mom, I wasn't complaining about being a hermit. I love being out here in the "zone". Over Spring Break, I literally did not leave our property for twelve days and I was happy as a clam. Michael gets all antsy so I was happy to let him go into town and do all the shopping and errands. I always find things to do and things that need to be done.
OK, Blake just went and while I wasn't hot on his performance, I think it was a very smart move. I think he looks better with dark hair. Still didn't like him though. Phil is gonna "go down in flames". I think he's planning his song for when he gets voted off tomorrow! Chris may very well be joining him. Yuck.
Michael talked to Dave this morning while I was at class. He said Dave sounds really excited and gave him their new phone number. I'll hopefully get in touch with him tomorrow and will pass on any news.

I really liked Blake's performance and the real Lakisha returned. I hope that Jordin got enough votes last week to keep her safe this week. Melinda was her regular wonderful self. I'm hoping that we're saying ta ta to Phil and Chris. I saved some Chex from last week. I think Bon Jovi is hotter now than he was 15 years ago! He must do good vitamins.
The wonders of plastic surgery...Michael told me that a few years back, his whole band had lipo and came out with some big promo in favor of it.
When I was working at that bistro/cigar bar in SF (Lehr's), Bon Jovi (is that the band or him?)...anyway, Bon Jovi came in with his entourage. I actually sold him a torpedo and clipped it for him and lighted it, all on my knee and wearing a tie of course. He likes his cigars circumcised.
Ha, ha. I have on a Daily Show that I Tivo'ed from two nights ago, and just as I wrote "circumcised", the guest on the show said "penis". Just a bit of synchronicity to continue on with my day of shooting video. The sky out here is amazing today.
Anyway, I agree with you Deb. I think that's the way it's gonna go, but you never know. I really felt badly for Jordin. What was she thinking? Who advised her? She needs a new agent!
I have Chex left over from last night :)
Blog to you later.

Oh, and Mom-
They just say, "You're finshed. Goodbye." That's fine with me. Remember my graduation from Berkeley? I don't think we'll be graduating in a redwood forest here in NM. My certificate will probably be written in colored pencil! Thank goodness I was able to teach myself a bunch of stuff. Not a Berkeley education, that's for sure, but they do the best they can with the funding they receive.
Michael and I will have a little celebration of our own :)

I only have a half a minute - the natester has awoken early from his nap. I agree with your reviews of last night. I was actually surprised how well most did with the Rock songs. Jordin was AWFUL!!! I thought Blake's perf. was great! He was smart to pull out the beat boxing this week. Melinda - awsome/Tiny Turner. Lakisha was great too. I can't stand Chris and Phil is so blah. So I hope Phil and Chris go.
I need to make some chex and the will have peanuts this week. I left them out last week so I could send them to school with Nate, but the legumes make it better. I think I only have enough for a half batch - oh well.
What's the video about, Peg?
Peggy, I loved your Berkeley graduation! Remember when Gary ordered one of every dessert (except sherbert) on the menu at dinner? And they brought them to the table in that thing that resembled a cow trough. And those are the skinniest pictures of me that I have. I think I remember that I had a pair of size 4 pants. I wanted to wear them inside out so the size tag would show. I'm so vain! But no plastic yet! Anyway, yes do tell us about the video.
Heather, I bet Nate and Will are having a blast with this weather. Nate have any more flying leaps out of his crib? Cole got a shiner at day care yesterday. But apparently he survived and got right back into the swing of things.
Will be thinking of you all as I munch tonight!
Yes, I remember we went to Boulevard and there were fireworks and everything. I forgot about the exclusion of the sherbert, though!
So my great-nephews are flying and boxing now? Heath, how do you know Nate jumped out of his crib? Did you see it?
I don't quite know what the video is "about" yet. I don't really do narratives or literal stuff--more abstract. I usually shoot a bunch of video and then let it come together as I'm editing. I do know that it will involve re-mixed Pink Floyd and Beatles, along with voiceovers, some pilfered Wizard of Oz footage, lots of timelapse video I've been taking, and stuff from when I just leave the camera running on the tripod as the family goes about its day (that's the fun stuff!). We'll see.
Did I ever send you guys the Wolff Wedding video I did? The soundtrack is all Frank Zappa narration. It's pretty funny. I'll send a DVD. Now that I think of it, I don't think any of you have seen it.
I'll put some DVDs in the mail.

Peg - we just heard a big thud, followed by screaming. He actually landed and somehow hit his back on a stool. He is too afraid to do it again. And I am so cruel that I saw that the little girl next door broke her arm and told Nate that she might have climbed out of her crib.
Mom - how did Cole get a black eye?
Well, if you listen to Cole, a little girl named Sadie "did it"... But the real story is that he missed a step climbing on a play climber thing in the playground.. Slammed down right on his face. Ice and a call to daddy calmed him down and he's fine now.
Hey Jay
Kind of like, "David did it!"??
Peg, we'll be looking for that DVD. Hope you didn't set it to "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow". Heather, you are sooo mean! That's much worse than me pinning the feet of your PJs together! You'll definitely have to pay for his shrink!
OK! Now IDOL can get down and dirty. The serious competition begins. This is where we predicted it would be 16 contestants ago. Phil definitely picked an appropriate song. He was just beginning to find his groove.
I think that Blake won't hold up just because whenever one of the girls go, her voting block will just switch over to one of the others. We'll see Blake in the future whichever way it goes. He was hot Tuesday night. I'm going to have IDOL withdrawl next week. We'll be on our cruise. I'll have to make an excuse to go back to our room. I'll have it TIVO'd but I won't be able to wait.
I disagree, I feel that Blake will benefit from the split amongst the female vote. He is the only one that is different from the rest. Meaning that he is not the typical crooner or diva type of singer that has plagued the stage of idol for so many years. Assuming that Blake can keep it real and stay true to his artistic inclination, he will be there with big-headed Melinda. If he attempts to "sing" on their level, he will get slaughtered.
P
As if telling your kid that is worse than pinning the bottoms of your pj's together so you fall over! I think that is why I have poor muscle tone in my legs.
Poor Cole! We need a picture.
I called the AI kickoff's, but I guess it was pretty obvious. I put garlic salt in my chex last night, so they are even more salty than they usually are. Oh well, they are still good.
Heath--I think you're supposed to use garlic powder!
This week I tried using "Smart Balance" for the Chex. I was coming down to the wire (7:00) and the Chex were ready. I started munching the warm Chex and thought,"Yuck! What is that weird aftertaste." It must have been the Smart Balance! I spit them out and had to brush my teeth.
First commercial break I whipped up a quarter of a batch of Chex with butter. Yum. I left the others for Michael to see what he thinks. His cholesterol came back last week at 170 for his low-density, so we have to start cutting back anyway. The Smart Balance has no trans-fats and tastes good on baked potatoes and toast, but 86 them for Chex!
So, I don't get it. Why did Deb pin Heather's pjs together?

Ah - a second to write. J's been working all week so it's only me in the evenings with Cole until bedtime.
I've been calling Phil and Chris to leave for weeks - but I think that was my wishful thinking. Fortunately their time had finally come. Did anyone see the looks on their faces during the whole vote off show? They were so bummed (hee hee). I also felt bad for Jordin but at least she went with the look and tried something different. I loved Blake's performance so much that I had to watch it twice (ok, 3 times). What's nice is at this point is that I'm ok with anyone of the 4 winning.
As for Cole's black eye. I took pics the night he came home with it, but there wasn't enough coloring. Now it's getting darker so I have to try again. It's swollen enough that from a side view he really looks Asian.
For those of you who don't know or were out of the room (or out to lunch) when the stories were being told, I used to pin the feet of Heather's footie PJs together so that she couldn't climb out of her crib. Bear in mind that she was doing this well before her first birthday. She used to sling her leg over the bar, grab the rail and hang there until her little arms got tired and then fall to the ground. At least I didn't duct tape her to the mattress!
Jess, hang in...I hear the website launches this weekend and Jason will be home again in the evenings and on weekends.
