Happy Easter

I've been thinking of Easters past. Everyone had to have everything new , including socks and underwear. And you had to wear everything regardless of the weather. And you all are probably going to say," We looked like DORKS."
Those were also the days of Easter baskets with all the darn grass getting all over and everyone sure someone "stole" my jellybeans .It was probably me because no one left me any jellybeans.
Eggs were dyed and hidden by the Easter Bunny and some times found long after Easter. The eggs remained on the table until they were eatten
By the way, What is your favorite colored egg? Mine is the dark pink.
Let's have a vote.
1 for dark pink.

I like the blue ones

But, you forgot about how one egg was always left raw and than we'd crack them on our heads and someone would end up with raw egg running down their face. Or how David would pour salt down his throat before he ate the egg (I guess that was before he hated them).

Oh my God, Heath--I totally forgot about that stuff. Perhaps your memory got petrified...somehow. ;)

Remember the year I was such a tomboy that my "Easter Suit" was a new denim jacket and matching jeans? Went to church in it and everything.

I only like the yolks of the hardboiled eggs...with salt. I wonder if Dave still puts a big pile of salt on his plate to dip his fries into. Dave?

There are probably still a few eggs hanging around that house. Did we not think to count them before they were hidden, or did the Easter Bunny just wing it? Oh, that's right. The Easter Bunny doesn't fly.

I haven't dyed eggs in so long I don't even know the colors. I always liked the green ones, though.

Around here, people make the pilgrimage to Santuario, a sacred spot in Chimayo, in order to symbolize Jesus' journey to his crucifixion. They travel on foot from all over, for days, some carrying huge crosses the entire way. Michael and I went to Santa Fe on Thursday and saw at least one hundred one their way to the mountain. It's pretty intense.

Anyway, for those of you who take a more light-hearted approach...Happy Easter...may you steer clear of the raw egg!

I forgot about the raw one too. Isn't there something about if it spins it's raw. Or is it the other way around?
And I do remember that Easter suit,Peg.
And counting the eggs only makes sense.
The colors are purple,blue,yellow,
orange and red.Green had to be mixed.I just dyed 3 pink ones

Not only crosses - but some actually do it on their knees. Crazy Catholics out there. I know many people from Santa Fe that did that walk.

If an egg can spin on its side, not its tip, it is hard boiled :).

We didn't know that one when we were kids.

Speaking of crazy Catholics--they even closed the freakin banks on Good Friday here. Not a federal holiday, as far as I know. The municipal government buildings closed for a new holiday they are calling "Spring Day", and the UNM library closed calling it "Cultural Awareness Day"! I wish they would just say, "We're closing for Good Friday," but I guess that wouldn't be politically correct.

Most of the local businesses were closed as well. Never heard of anyone doing the pilgrimage on their knees. Ouch.

Only Gary and I would remember the REALLY deep blue and red that our grandfather used to make. I think he must have left them in for two days. Actually, all of his colors were very vivid and according to Me-me(the original)were food coloring. So I like the Midnight blue. Karen, ask Gary if he remembers the year we sat on the Silly Putty to press it on the comics and it stuck FOREVER to our new underwear. I still remeber Mom taking those underpants and throwing them out in the garbage.
I don't know if that was the same year that the dog we had ate Mom's Easter hat. Blue feathered concoction if I remember correctly. If it was the same year, it was not a good year. Prince, the dog, ended up 'on a farm'.
