i mean i have SO much respect for them, they helped revolutionize a new chapter of rock and roll
but come on, give me some REAL b/a material

that is all

OH
PS. for anyone under 50
eh mabye under 45
The band: "Neutral Milk Hotel"

Ah, youth.

Kel, you have no idea how bad ass KISS was in their day. Gene Simmons is a parody of himself--that's the POINT of the show.

Neutral Milk Hotel is cool, but they'll be replaced by Tonal Soy Holiday Inn soon enough. Takes alot to still be a household name some 30 or so years later--like The Grateful Dead, the Beatles and, yes Mom, even Perry Como!

Enjoy your rebellion. You only get to do it once...or twice...or, alright, alright...I'm still counting ;)

P.S.

Actually, around the time KISS was a phenomenon, Pink Floyd was fast becoming my favorite band, and Danny had already discovered the Grateful Dead. Pink Floyd is still way up there on my "list". I've never stopped listening to them, or the Dead, or Lou Reed, for that matter. I wonder if you'll be saying that about Neutral Milk Hotel thirty years from now. I wonder......

Love ya,

Hey Kel - good to see you here. Can I check out these Milk guys on itunes or are they too cool for that? I will check them out - you seem to have good taste in music, so I will give it a listen.

Peg - I NEVER use the term, but the Soy Milk thing got a LOL from me. I didn't even get it until the second time I read it. I thought you were so cool that you actually new who Neutral Milk was. Very clever!

You know who I loved when I was around Kelly's age? Milli Vanilli. People still talk about them. But I did love Bob Marley and Frank Zappa before I was 3.

Kell - check out King Missile. I just listened to a couple of songs by Neutral Milk and it kind of reminded me of King Missile.

Yeah, Kel. Iggy Pop and the Stooges laid ground for the incoming punk rock of the late 70's. I have a couple of their first albums (on vinyl!)

Iggy was a real performance artist, a total wild man. He used to get half-naked on stage and cut himself and beat himself up, get in fights on stage, that kind of thing.

Last time I saw you it was Johnny Depp--now it's Iggy and the Stooges?

Well, I am sure I am saving Memedeb and MGM from asking eachother that during their am phone call.

Off to bed - it is way past my bedtime. Goodnight everyone.

In the Flesh is the beginning of a rock-n-roll masterpiece. I listen to The Wall at least once a week and it has a constant place in the center console of my truck. I actually had to buy a new copy about a month ago because I wore my old copy out.

I saw Floyd twice in the Bay Area. At the end of the last show I saw, they raised this huge, like 30 story "receiver" that looked like a microphone covered with lights and mirrors. It spun around wildly and they were playing stuff that sounded like Stephen Hawkins' electronic voice. I know, for sure, that they were trying to make "contact".

Michael wants me to tell you that he saw Floyd's "Animals" tour and the original "The Wall" tour. (In, 1979/80?) Yowza.

Listening(reading)all of this music/group conversation convinces me that Nate has no choice but to be a rocker. Is it not strange that Heather AND Nate have Marley as a favorite as toddlers? I guess it is what you are exposed to.
Welcome to the BLOG Kel. We were beginning to wonder if you were too cool for us.

Iggy and The Stooges are playing the Warfield next Thursday at the Warfield. Cathy and I have two front row Balcony tickets. So Kelly, we will let you know if Iggy still has a "Lust for Life". And guess who swung us the tickets? Sensi John Creese(Martin Cove) from the Karate Kid. Sweep the leg Johnny. He invited us to a film festival in SF, and got us the tickets. Yes we fecking RULE!!!!!!
