OK, so you all know my life isn't all that exciting right now. So you have to bear with me through this post.
Something most of you, if not all of you, don't know about me is my weird facination with documentaries. The stranger the better. Drugs, transgendered youths, interventions, ect. Pete once brought home a dvd about a retarded, alcholic, pedophile and said he thought it was "right up my alley." and it was.
So another thing I love is the radio show on NPR called "This American Life." It is basically a themed radio documentary. They tell two or three stories that follow a theme. It is great. Peter and I usually download a couple to our ipod for long car rides.
So the exciting news is, Showtime has made "This American Life" into a tv show and we got Showtime today!!!! Yay!!!!
I can't wait to watch it, I will let you know how it is.
BTW - this post shows how stupid a post may be, don't worry about excitement or creative writing...just share.
I know this post also completely earns me the label ...BIG FAT DORK.

Please disregard the spelling mistakes. I did not have a chance to check the spelling.
Hey, Heath-
I'm the same way; I love documentaries. Like they say--Real life is weirder than fiction. Did anyone catch the "Addiction" series on HBO? The main pieces were kind of dumbed down for the general public, but the "addendum" documentaries were just fantastic. One in particular, "The Revolving Door", rocked my world. Another, "TV Junkie" is amazing (about a crackhead news reporter). "Cracked, Not Broken" and "Montana Meth" just blew me away, too. Much of the content of these "side pieces" was shot on simple, hand-held camcoders. They're the real deal--highly recommended.

Oh, yeah. Have you seen the show "Intervention" yet? I'm hooked.

Of course, to both. But I don't think I've seen Revolving Door I will look for that one. I thought the main peice was boing, but some of the others were great.
Intervention is a dvr'd show in our house.
We watched the first "This American Life" last night - So good!!!
Way over my head. Something like the Nose Bleeds?
Right now I'm into Basketball. How 'bout RU !! Amazing.
Soory about your "Tarheels", Dave.
Go Georgetown!!
Peg,
I saw the cracked out tv reporter. Very sad, I had to turn it off when they showed his kid freaking out because the wife sent him to jail. Sometimes, reality is just too much.
Pete from heathandpete
I admit I have never seen these shows. I have a teenager at home and would probably never let her out of the house if I saw too many of them. As it is, every PTO meeting & school newsletter is filled with topics such as "Teenage Addiction", "Underage Drinking" & "Is Your Child Having Sex?" Tomorrow night's meeting is "A Parent's Introduction to Facebook & My space," with special attention focused on inappropriate posts and lewd & compromising photos. Who needs documentaries??
P.S. Kelly's health class cycle is currently covering human sexuality & sexual health.
After the most recent snow fall, a boy in Kelly's class wrote in huge letters, in the snow, on our front lawn...."PAP SMEAR".(See what happens on snow days when kids are given the day off of school) You could see it as soon as you drove up the hill...we couldn't stop laughing!
Sorry about the Tarheels mascot, too. How do you guys expect me to defend NJ when stuff like that happens? (Just kidding)
Michael comes from a major line of UCLA grads...so you know who we're rooting for.
Re: the documentaries-Yeah, Pete, that part was rough--really hard to watch. What a story.
Looks like we may have to get "Showtime". :)

Kar-
Better keep an eye out--the tendency to addiction is partially genetic. Yikes.
I actually think you should watch out for the kid who wrote PAP SMEAR in the snow. Now that's bizarre! He may be dangerous...or a future gynecologist. (I've always thought that was kind of bizarre, too!)
