we're baaaaaaack

Ahola everyone. We did in fact make it back from Jamaica alive. It was a very good and relaxing trip, and I think even Kel got a little tan! To the left is a pic of us on the terrace outside after we had dinner at a nice Jamaica restuarant where I think I got a million and a half bug bites. We were the only people between the ages of 5 and 50, so everyone there loved us!
And here is a pic of mom and dad looking nice. I was going to put in the picture of dad giving a gang sign, but i think we will save that for next years Christmas card. It is time for payback of all the years of Christmas card picture pain (remember the year you forgot the film mom and Aunt Deb???)
In other news, I am going to San Francisco next Thursday - hitting Napa on Friday and Saturday. Dave and Cathy, I will call you! My mom just gave me your number. I totally have the travel bug and am currently trying to plan a trip at the end of the year to Thailand/Vietnam/Cambodia/maybe Bali/and Australia. At least the Australia part is definitely happening. My goal (i don't like to call them resolutions) of 2007 was international travel so I suppose I may achieve it after all.
On that note, it is time to head out. It's Thursday night, after all. Love you all lots!
xoxo, Kate

Great to see one of the GKW's on. We miss you guys! Looks like fun - I am envious of your travel plans - San Fran is my favorite city. Have fun!

Pete's sister did a trip to Asia a few years back - let me know if you want any info on the places she went. The crazy girl did most of the trip alone - much braver than I.

We did have a great trip (despite the unflattering picture Katie has chosen to post of Gary & I) The girls somehow lucked out & got a great suite of rooms with a private pool while Gary & I had a lovely but standard room - we were with a business group who said no children allowed on the trip so we had to pretend we didn't know our own children for a couple of days. They loved that, of course. They befriended their cleaning woman who wanted to meet Gary & I at 6:30 one night to tell us how wonderful our girls were. She also kept telling the girls to honor their father (good words of advice)Gary refused to meet her at the appointed time - maybe he thought she wanted a good tip???
A good time was had by all!
The Sunday we got back we took Kelly to an open call audition for the Broadway show "Spring Awakening"....waited on line (we were #258 out of over 1000...after 6+ hrs of waiting, when Kelly finally got called they told her she was too young (looking for girls 16-21 - she is 15) the material of the play is rather edgy & they were strict about age. So it was an experience.
Gary is in Dallas right now & will get together with Danny at end of week.
Love to all, k

OK - I have to ask, What does Ahola mean? Is it a Rasta thing? Or a typo? Or a funny way of calling people a-holes?

Doesn't "Aloha" mean hello and goodbye in Hawaiian? Maybe it applies in Jamaica too? Glad you had a great time. It LOOKS like you did. Kar, the picture of you and Gary is great...you just look "relaxed"! Kate, your trip sounds amazing. Hope it materializes. My finals are done. WHEW! I'm too old to be pulling all nighters. I'm going to take a few weeks off to recuperate and then start the job search. Not looking forward to that. Glad everyone is well. Any news from Deb and Don?

Ohmigod, yes I remember the 100 pictures we took with no film in the camera! Wasn't that the same year Karen got the 'poison' Coke in the 7-11? What a fiasco!! Personally, my favorite Wilbur Christmas card was the year with the boas and Kelly wearing the pink punk wig!

Poison coke, no film? Where the heck was I? Story please.

About 15 years ago I went up to G&K's to babysit Kelly so that Karen could go Christmas shopping. As I remember, she went to a 7-11 or some convenience store to get a coke for the road. When she sipped the Coke it burned her throat and they thought that somehow a chemical from the fountain machine or the cleaning product used to clean it had gotten into the soda.
This was the same day that Karen and I attempted to take pictures for their Christmas card and realized after a zillion poses that there was no film in the camera. Karen was under the influence of poisoned Coke. I don't know what my excuse was.
